Thanks so much for giving me this perspective. These are not mistakes but learning experiences!
Back to the Beatles..."All you need is love, la la la la la."
I'm impressed by your decision to build a home for your mom near the person who could provide loving care along with hired caregivers. For all the money paid to assisted living and/or skilled nursing residences, one might as well build a house and later have something to show for it.
So good to know that you have located a small, caring facility for the last couple of months.
--AnneA Linstatterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08548864308299827710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16654596.post-22770544201919828092007-05-04T12:41:00.000-07:002007-05-04T12:41:00.000-07:00Anne,I haven't read your sight lately and just rea...Anne,

I haven't read your sight lately and just read all about your big mistake. Don't worry about it, I wound up hiring a bipolar college student who wound up having a mental breakdown to be a live in with my mom a couple of years back when we just wanted to have someone in the house with her during the evenings. She wound up in the state mental facility for a week with my brother having to deal with the situation until her parents could come in from out of state to get her released into their care. Now that was a mess much larger than moving furniture. I do whole heartedly agree with your comment that none of all the "professional" care really matters if the "loving" care is not present. People need love. You did the right thing to recognize the situation and correct it. After that we arranged for a home to built near her twin sister so her twin could move in with her and be her caregiver along with some day time caregivers who stop in for a couple hour per day to give my Aunt a break. This looks like it is now run its course and finally time to have Mom move to a care facility. Fortunately there is one nearby with 16 residence and a staff of 3 very care individuals.

Certainly appreciate your postings.

MerrittMerritt and Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14097824540596624070noreply@blogger.com
